The science, plainly

How Cardio Clear 7 Is Meant to Work

Quick answer

Cardio Clear 7 rests on one main idea: CoQ10 helps cells make energy, and heart muscle uses a lot of it. Shilajit is added on the claim that it helps CoQ10 work, and PQQ is sold for cell energy too. Each idea comes from studies of single ingredients. No study has tested the finished capsule.

01The basic idea

What is Cardio Clear 7 supposed to do in the body?

The formula aims at cell energy. Every cell burns fuel in small structures called mitochondria. CoQ10 is one of the parts that carries energy along that chain, and it also acts as an antioxidant (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10).

The heart beats all day, so it needs a steady energy supply. That simple fact is the logic behind most heart claims for CoQ10. The logic is sound biology. Whether an extra capsule changes anything for a healthy adult is a separate question.

The bottle makes two claims: "Supports a Healthy Heart*" and "Helps Maintain Healthy Cellular Energy*". Both are structure/function claims. A seller may print them without FDA review, as long as the FDA statement appears with them (FDA - Dietary Supplements Q&A) (21 CFR 101.93 - Supplement statements). They state a goal, not a measured result.

02Three actives

Which three ideas sit behind the formula?

One ingredient carries most of the weight. The other two are add-ons with thin research.

01

CoQ10, 100 mg

The core. Your body makes its own, and levels can fall with age and with statin use. It has the most human research of the three.

02

Shilajit extract, 80 mg

Pitched as a helper that makes CoQ10 work better. That claim comes from animal and lab work, not people.

03

PQQ, 10 mg

Sold for mitochondria. Most of its evidence is from animals and test tubes. No heart trials were found.

Amounts per capsule come from the official store listing (Simple Promise store listing). Full profiles are on the ingredients page.

03CoQ10

How is CoQ10 thought to support the heart?

CoQ10 is thought to help by keeping the energy chain supplied. Heart muscle holds a lot of it, which is why researchers tested it in heart patients first.

Blood pressure results split. A Cochrane review pooled two small trials with 50 people and found no clinically meaningful change (Cochrane - CoQ10 and hypertension). A 2022 review of 26 trials found systolic pressure about 4.77 points lower, with no clear change in the bottom number (Zhao 2022 - CoQ10 BP dose-response). Those trials enrolled people with heart or metabolic conditions, often on medicine already.

The strongest single trial is Q-SYMBIO. It gave 300 mg a day to 420 people with heart failure for two years (Q-SYMBIO trial - JACC HF 2014). That is three of these capsules a day, in sick patients on full treatment. Its result does not transfer to healthy adults taking 100 mg.

Statins block a step the body uses to make CoQ10, so blood levels drop (Qu 2018 - Statins lower CoQ10 levels) (MSKCC - Coenzyme Q10). That is one reason people on statins ask about it. More on the CoQ10 page.

04Shilajit

What is the shilajit supposed to add?

The store says the shilajit extract "boosts the efficiency of CoQ10" (Simple Promise store listing). The study behind that kind of claim used rats, four per group, plus test tubes (Bhattacharyya 2009 - shilajit and CoQ).

In that work, rats got CoQ10 with one purified compound taken from shilajit. Coenzyme Q in the liver rose. In the heart it barely moved, from 35.69 to 36.99 units. Blood levels did not change in a meaningful way. No person took part.

Human shilajit trials used 250 to 500 mg a day of a branded extract and looked at strength and hormones (Keller 2019 - shilajit strength RCT). One capsule holds 80 mg. Read the shilajit page for the full picture.

One bottle: 30 capsules, one a day. The label names three actives; the "booster" idea for shilajit is a store claim, not a label finding.

05PQQ

Where does PQQ fit in?

PQQ is the smallest part of the formula, at 10 mg. It is sold on the idea that it helps cells build and protect mitochondria.

FDA sent "no questions" letters about PQQ disodium salt for use in drinks, at up to 8 mg and up to 20 mg a serving (FDA GRN 625 - PQQ disodium salt) (FDA GRN 641 - PQQ disodium salt). Those letters cover beverages. They do not review any capsule, and FDA made no safety finding of its own.

The one human trial we found gave 20 mg a day for 12 weeks and tested memory, not the heart. The maker of the PQQ paid for it (Food Funct 2023 - PQQ 20 mg trial). A 2024 review says long-term safety data are scarce and no best dose is known (Yan 2024 - PQQ review). See the PQQ page.

06Evidence at a glance

How strong is the evidence for each mechanism?

The proposed role of each active in Cardio Clear 7, the best human evidence for that ingredient alone, and the gap. No trial of the product exists.

07In practice

How does one capsule a day fit into the plan?

Four steps from the bottle to a fair check-in with your doctor.

  1. 01

    Read your bottle

Check the Supplement Facts panel on your bottle against the store listing: 100 mg CoQ10, 80 mg shilajit and 10 mg PQQ per capsule.

  2. 02

    Take one capsule a day

The store says with a meal; the info page says with or without food. CoQ10 is fat-soluble, so a meal with some fat is a sensible habit.

  3. 03

    Check your medicines

Warfarin, blood pressure, diabetes and statin users should ask a doctor or pharmacist first. Keep every prescribed dose.

  4. 04

Review at 30 and 90 days

Write down how you feel and any home readings, and go over them with your doctor. Stop if anything feels wrong.

CoQ10 dissolves in fat, so it is absorbed better with food. Taking the capsule with a meal that has some fat in it is a simple habit. The store says with a meal, and the brand's info page allows with or without food (Cardio Clear 7 info page).

08Medicines

Does Cardio Clear 7 act differently if you take heart medicines?

It can. CoQ10 is not inert next to some common drugs, so the same capsule may matter more for someone on prescriptions.

Your prescriptions come first

Keep taking prescribed medicine; never stop or change it because of a supplement. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before adding Cardio Clear 7 (MedlinePlus - Statins). See side effects and interactions.

09The limits

What can the mechanism not tell you?

A sound mechanism is a reason to study something. It is not proof that a capsule helps you.

The FTC expects health claims to rest on solid human trials. Animal and test-tube work is not enough on its own (FTC - Health Products Compliance Guide). By that standard, the CoQ10 idea has real but mixed support. The shilajit and PQQ ideas are still early.

For a realistic sense of timing, read what to expect over the first months.

10FAQ

Questions about how Cardio Clear 7 works

How does CoQ10 work in the body?

CoQ10 helps carry energy along the chain inside mitochondria, the parts of cells that turn food into usable fuel. It also acts as an antioxidant (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10). The body makes its own supply, and heart muscle holds a lot of it because it works nonstop.

Does shilajit make CoQ10 work better?

That has not been shown in people. The idea comes from a study in rats and test tubes, where a purified shilajit compound raised coenzyme Q in the liver but barely changed it in the heart (Bhattacharyya 2009 - shilajit and CoQ). No human trial has tested the claim, and the capsule holds 80 mg.

Is ubidecarenone the same as CoQ10?

Yes. Ubidecarenone is the chemical name for ubiquinone, the common form of CoQ10. The brand photo shows the capsules printed with both "Co Q10" and ubidecarenone. The store lists 100 mg per capsule (Simple Promise store listing), so check the panel on your own bottle as well.

Will I feel Cardio Clear 7 working?

Many people will not notice a clear change, and that is normal for CoQ10. Its studied effects are things like small blood pressure shifts measured over weeks (Zhao 2022 - CoQ10 BP dose-response), not a feeling within days. Track home readings and how you feel, then review them with your doctor.

Does Cardio Clear 7 have caffeine or stimulants?

No stimulant appears in the published ingredients. The store lists CoQ10, shilajit extract and PQQ, plus five inactive capsule ingredients (Simple Promise store listing). CoQ10 can cause mild trouble sleeping in some people (NCCIH - Coenzyme Q10), so if that happens, a morning dose with breakfast may suit you better.

Does Cardio Clear 7 work if I am on a statin?

Nobody has tested the capsule in statin users. Statins do lower blood CoQ10 (Qu 2018 - Statins lower CoQ10 levels), but trials on statin muscle aches disagree (Banach 2015 - CoQ10 statin myopathy) (Qu 2018 JAHA - CoQ10 statin symptoms). Keep your statin exactly as prescribed, and ask your doctor before adding any CoQ10 product, including this one (MedlinePlus - Statins). Report new muscle pain promptly.
