Cardio Clear 7 Side Effects: What to Watch For
Most effects linked to Cardio Clear 7's main ingredient, CoQ10, are mild.
CoQ10 can cause stomach upset, headache, dizziness, rash or trouble sleeping. It may make warfarin work less well and may affect insulin, so talk to your doctor first if you take a statin, blood pressure or diabetes drug.

01The short version
Is Cardio Clear 7 safe for most adults?
For most healthy adults, the ingredients have a mild record at these amounts, but the product itself has no safety study. What we know comes from research on each ingredient alone. NCCIH says no serious side effects have been reported for CoQ10 (NCCIH - Coenzyme Q10).
Three things make the picture less simple. CoQ10 interacts with some common heart and diabetes medicines. Shilajit is a mineral pitch that needs purity testing. And PQQ has scarce long-term safety data (Yan 2024 - PQQ review).
Never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of a supplement. If you take a statin, blood pressure or diabetes medicine, talk with your doctor before adding anything (MedlinePlus - Statins).
02Common effects
What side effects can the ingredients in Cardio Clear 7 cause?
Most reported effects are mild and tied to CoQ10. They tend to be digestive or sleep-related, and they often ease when the capsule is taken with food or earlier in the day.
| Ingredient (per capsule) | Reported effects | Source |
|---|---|---|
| CoQ10 (100 mg) | Nausea, diarrhea, upper stomach pain, heartburn, loss of appetite | (Mayo Clinic - Coenzyme Q10) (MSKCC - Coenzyme Q10) (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10) |
| CoQ10 (100 mg) | Trouble sleeping, headache, dizziness, rash | (NCCIH - Coenzyme Q10) (Mayo Clinic - Coenzyme Q10) (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10) |
| CoQ10 (100 mg) | Raised liver enzymes, noted by NCI | (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10) |
| Shilajit extract (80 mg) | No adverse events in a small 8-week trial at 250-500 mg | (Keller 2019 - shilajit strength RCT) |
| PQQ (10 mg) | Safety and long-term data scarce | (Yan 2024 - PQQ review) |
| Capsule and other ingredients | Common capsule materials; no effects listed | Not published |
If a mild effect does not settle within a few days, stop and ask your doctor. The how to take it page covers timing.
03Blood thinners
Can you take CoQ10 with warfarin?
Only with your doctor's approval and closer monitoring. CoQ10 might make warfarin work less well, which could raise the risk of a clot (Mayo Clinic - Coenzyme Q10). MSKCC also notes reports of bleeding when the two were combined (MSKCC - Coenzyme Q10).
Your doctor may want extra INR tests in the first weeks, and again if you stop the capsule later.
- Tell the clinic that manages your warfarin before the first capsule.
- Keep your usual INR schedule, or a closer one if asked.
- Report unusual bruising, nosebleeds, dark stools or blood in urine.
04Other medicines
Which other medicines interact with Cardio Clear 7?
Insulin, blood pressure drugs, statins and theophylline are the main ones named in our sources. The interactions run in both directions.
Insulin and diabetes medicine
NCCIH and NCI say CoQ10 may change how the body uses insulin (NCCIH - Coenzyme Q10) (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10). Check your sugar readings more often in the first weeks.
Blood pressure medicine
NCI notes that blood pressure drugs may lessen CoQ10's effects (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10). Mayo says CoQ10 might affect blood pressure, so dizziness is worth reporting (Mayo Clinic - Coenzyme Q10).
Statins
Statins lower the body's own CoQ10 (Qu 2018 - Statins lower CoQ10 levels) (MSKCC - Coenzyme Q10). Trials on statin muscle aches are mixed (Banach 2015 - CoQ10 statin myopathy) (Qu 2018 JAHA - CoQ10 statin symptoms). More in CoQ10 and statins.
Theophylline
MSKCC says CoQ10 slows how fast the body clears theophylline, a lung medicine (MSKCC - Coenzyme Q10). Ask your pharmacist about dose timing.
05Quick check
Should you check with a doctor before your first capsule?
Five quick questions. Any yes means a conversation first, or 911 for the last one.

Does the shilajit in Cardio Clear 7 carry a heavy metal risk?
The risk is real for the category, and no lab report has been published for this product. Shilajit comes from mountain rock, and some Ayurvedic products sold online have held lead, mercury or arsenic. A JAMA study found metals in 20.7% of 193 such products (Saper 2008 JAMA - Ayurvedic metals).
NCCIH warns that some Ayurvedic preparations can contain toxic amounts of metals (NCCIH - Ayurvedic Medicine). On the other side, ConsumerLab tested eight shilajit supplements in 2024 and found none above levels of concern at one daily dose (ConsumerLab 2024 - shilajit tests).
So purity depends on the batch and the supplier. Cardio Clear 7 uses 80 mg, a small amount, but its lot code is a seller reference, not a test result. See testing and quality.

07Unknowns
What is still unknown about PQQ safety?
Quite a lot. A 2024 review says safety and long-term data on PQQ supplements are scarce, no optimal dose is set, and drug interactions are not well studied (Yan 2024 - PQQ review).
FDA's "no questions" letters on PQQ cover drinks at up to 8 mg or 20 mg a serving, not capsules (FDA GRN 625 - PQQ disodium salt) (FDA GRN 641 - PQQ disodium salt). FDA did not make its own safety finding. The one human trial we found used 20 mg a day for 12 weeks and tested memory (Food Funct 2023 - PQQ 20 mg trial). Cardio Clear 7 has 10 mg.
08Who should skip it
Who should avoid Cardio Clear 7?
Pregnant or nursing women, and children. The brand's info page says it is not intended for pregnant or nursing women (Cardio Clear 7 info page), and Mayo advises avoiding CoQ10 in pregnancy without a clinician's approval (Mayo Clinic - Coenzyme Q10).
- Anyone on warfarin or another blood thinner, unless their doctor agrees.
- People with a planned surgery, until they ask their surgeon.
- People with liver disease, given NCI's note on liver enzymes (NCI PDQ - Coenzyme Q10).
The who it suits page walks through more cases.
09Know when to act
When is a symptom an emergency rather than a side effect?
Chest pain or pressure, pain in the arm, back, neck or jaw, shortness of breath, a cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness can be a heart attack. Call 911 (AHA - Heart Attack Warning Signs). A blood pressure reading over 180/120 with symptoms is also a 911 call (AHA - Understanding BP Readings).
Stop the capsule and call your doctor or pharmacist. You can report a bad reaction to a supplement to FDA through MedWatch.
10FAQ
Cardio Clear 7 safety: common questions
Can I take CoQ10 with warfarin?
Only if your doctor agrees and checks your INR. CoQ10 might make warfarin work less well, raising clot risk, and bleeding has also been reported with the pair. Tell the clinic before you start and before you stop, since both changes can shift your INR.
Does Cardio Clear 7 cause insomnia?
It can for some people, because trouble sleeping is a reported CoQ10 effect. Taking the capsule in the morning or at lunch instead of the evening often helps. If sleep stays poor after a week or two, stop and ask your doctor.
Can Cardio Clear 7 upset my stomach?
Yes, mild nausea, diarrhea, heartburn or upper stomach pain are listed for CoQ10. Taking the capsule with a meal usually helps. If the upset lasts more than a few days or is severe, stop taking it and talk with your doctor.
Does Cardio Clear 7 interact with diabetes medicine?
It may, because CoQ10 can change how the body uses insulin. That could affect your sugar readings. If you use insulin or other diabetes medicine, ask your doctor first and check your readings more often in the first weeks.
Is Cardio Clear 7 safe while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No, the brand's info page says it is not intended for pregnant or nursing women. Mayo Clinic also advises avoiding CoQ10 during pregnancy or breastfeeding without a clinician's approval.
Has Cardio Clear 7 been tested for heavy metals?
No lab report has been published for Cardio Clear 7, so we cannot confirm its metal levels. Its lot and CoA codes are seller references, not test results. Shilajit products vary: some Ayurvedic products held metals, while eight shilajit brands tested in 2024 were within limits.
Can I take Cardio Clear 7 with a statin?
Many people can, but ask your doctor first and keep taking your statin. Statins lower the body's own CoQ10, and trials on whether CoQ10 eases statin muscle aches are mixed.
